Job summary

AgHires is looking for an entry-level Maintenance Mechanic in Delano, California. The selected individual will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance to packaging equipment while collaborating with the team for personal development and support.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, with technical experience preferred. Applicants should be ready to work flexible shifts including overtime and possess the physical capability to handle machinery tasks.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with basic mathematical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Create work requests in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.

Skills

Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and present business items
Basic mathematical concepts
Capability to stand and/or walk for up to 12 hours
Use of both hands for frequent grasping

Education

Job description

Overview

Individual will perform preventative and corrective maintenance and will be responsible for the operation, setup, and minor mechanical repairs to packaging equipment (Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers, and Box Formers). This entry‑level position expects the member to learn and grow, assisting all team members on the Maintenance Mechanic Team for support and personal development.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures self and coworkers are compliant with all safety rules and regulations (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, etc.)
  • Provides and assists in the operation of Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers, and Box Formers
  • Performs uptime and downtime inspections, lubrication, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on a regular basis to ensure proper performance
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on packaging equipment
  • Collaborates with operators to ensure equipment runs and operates at the highest efficiencies
  • Assists with training and development of operators and other team members
  • Researches system and component specifications using equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication
  • Dismantles and reassembles complex pieces of machinery efficiently, precisely, and reliably
  • Creates work requests, work orders, and requests parts in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and documents details of work performed
  • Escalates technical, procedural, and personnel-related issues to direct lead or supervisor as necessary
  • Performs other assigned duties and projects
  • Assists Packaging Specialist on repairs and improvements to equipment
  • Responds to and clears Bin Jams in area of responsibility
  • Engages in minor rebuilds and preparation of rollers, including replacement of bearings, shafts, and sprockets
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Technical degree with three years or more of related experience and/or training in a production/manufacturing environment preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and present business items to coworkers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Proficiency with basic mathematical concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, rotating or varying shifts, and emergency call‑outs as needed
  • Capability to stand and/or walk for up to 12 hours in a shift, climb ladders or scaffolding to heights in excess of 10 feet, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat frequently for extended periods
  • Use of both hands for frequent grasping, occasional fine manipulation, and fingering
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing or pulling equipment or tools up to 75 pounds
  • Work at heights with required personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, work gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, dust masks, safety harnesses) on a continuous basis

Pay Rate: $23.18 - $24.21. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
