Job summary

U.S. Xpress, Inc. in Jacksonville is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on tractors and trailers.

You will inspect brakes, tires, fluids, and electrical components, and you may be asked to perform other duties as needed in a fast-paced shop environment. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a diesel tech diploma preferred, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diesel Technology diploma preferred.
• 1 year mechanical experience preferred; may substitute with diploma.
• Valid driver's license; must be 18+ and able to work in shop environment.
• DOT and Brake certification required for PM and brake work.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers.
• Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers as outlined in USX PM guidelines.
• Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
• Check vehicle fluids (e.g. transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc.).
• Change vehicle tires.
• Grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Range: 22.09-23.76

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
• A Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of the required experience.

Computer Experience Preferred.

Experience in the transportation industry preferred.

Skills/Certifications

• Valid driver’s license required; must be at least 18 years or older to work in USX Shop Environment.
• Ability to read and write.
• Must provide own tools that are adequate to perform job functions.
• D.O.T and Brake certification required to perform PM’s and brake work.
