Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking an Electronics Technician I (CSAT Integration Electronics) in Midland, TX to assemble, test, and inspect satellite communication assemblies. You will work from engineering drawings and ICDs, performing harness dressing and electrical assembly with strict ESD controls.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 2+ years in electronic assembly. Relocation may be required; shifts include 4x10 or 3x12 schedules with overtime opportunities and DOE pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
• Experience in electronic assembly and harnessing, preferably aerospace or satellite manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and ICDs.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, test, inspect, and support production of electronic satellite communication assemblies.
• Follow ICDs, wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and work instructions.
• Perform harness dressing, routing, shielding, and clamping of cables within modules.
• Maintain IPC/WHMA-A-620 and NASA workmanship standards; ensure ESD controls.

Position Summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking detail-oriented for Technician I (CSAT Integration Electronics) that is responsible for assembling, testing, inspecting, and supporting production of electronic satellite communication assemblies. Technicians perform critical manufacturing processes while following engineering drawings, production work instructions, quality standards, and ESD requirements. Successful candidates demonstrate strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and experience working with electronic components in a manufacturing environment.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay: DOE, with overtime opportunities.

• Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm (4x10) with paid lunch and breaks if you don't punch out for lunch.
• Monday-Thursday, 6:00 pm - 4:00 am (4x10) with paid lunch and breaks if you don't punch out for lunch.
• Friday - Sunday 6:00am - 6:00 pm (3x12) with paid lunch and breaks if you don't punch out for lunch.
• Friday - Sunday 6:00pm - 6:00 am (3x12) with paid lunch and breaks if you don't punch out for lunch.

What You'll Do

• Perform harness dressing, including routing, lacing, shielding, and clamping of cables and harnesses within spacecraft modules.
• Electronic assemblies experience (boxes, heaters, RTDs, connectors) following interface control documents (ICDs) and installation drawings.
• Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and work instructions.
• Ensure compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4, and company quality standards.
• Use tools such as torque drivers, wire strippers, crimpers, heat guns, and harness forming boards.
• Perform point-to-point continuity checks and support in-process quality inspections.
• Maintain cleanroom protocols and electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls during assembly operations.
• Document work performed and reported any non-conformances (NCRs) to engineering and quality teams.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and integration teams to resolve technical issues.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electronic assembly or aerospace assembly preferred.
• 2+ years' experience in electronic assembly and harnessing, preferably in aerospace or satellite manufacturing.
• Proficient with harness dressing standards and practices in aerospace environments.
• Familiarity with CIRRIS or similar harness testing systems is a plus.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 or NASA workmanship certification is highly desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and work instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without accommodation.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in Aerospace, Electronic Assembly, LEO satellite assembly, electronics bay integration, or flight hardware installations is desired.
• Hands‑on experience with bonded connectors, back shell assembly, EMI shielding, and bracket installations.
• Understanding of configuration control and traceability in space‑grade production environments.

Must be able to work either 1 st shift, 2 nd shift or 3 rd shift or the weekends as required.
