Job summary

Western Pacific Crane & Equipment, LLC is seeking Crane Field Technicians to grow their career with a leading crane distributor. You will maintain and repair complex crane systems on company-owned and customer equipment with minimal supervision, using schematics to diagnose issues and ensure safety compliance.

The role requires experience with hydraulic and electrical systems, willingness to travel (overnights may be required), and CDL preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; 3+ years crane/hydraulic repair experience preferred.
  • Experience reading schematics/diagrams for crane systems and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays, within assigned region.
  • Factory training on cranes is a plus; CDL preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills; safety minded.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic crane systems with minimal supervision.
  • Provide service documentation for completed work.
  • Train lower level technicians as needed.
  • Demonstrate equipment operation to customers.
  • Inspect cranes and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

We are looking for skilled Crane Field Technicians to join our team! We offer highly competitive wages, benefits, and factory training to increase your knowledge.

Our highly skilled crane technicians are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of complex crane and heavy equipment with limited or no supervision in a safe, and professional manner. Critical functions include:

  • Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on a variety of company owned and customer’s equipment while using a high degree of independent judgment.
  • Providing service documentation
  • Training of lower level technicians
  • Demonstrating of equipment for customer use.
  • Use schematics and diagrams to provide repairs on AT Crane
  • Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
  • Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (internal & external).
  • Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Companywide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability.
  • Participates as needed in special projects or work as assigned.
  • Maintain and repair Rough Terrain Cranes.
  • Maintain and repair Crawler Cranes.
  • Provide certified crane inspections.

Qualifications Guidelines

Experience/Training/Education:

Required: High School or equivalent, 3+ years of experience with Hydraulic, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining preferable Grove, National, Manitou and Manitowoc Cranes. GMK Training. Willingness to travel with some overnights. A valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).

Desired: Highly developed mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background, particularly with an emphasis on cranes, extensive knowledge of crane equipment, an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams on German made AT Cranes, own the tools applicable to position, and exhibit strong teamwork, verbal, and written skills. Factory training certifications a plus. GMK/AT crane factory training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Hydraulic experience read and understand schematics
  • Electrical experience read and understand schematics ( Can-Bus systems)
  • Willingness to travel at will throughout assigned region when called upon.
  • Willingness to work at various heights. Safety minded/oriented.
  • Detail Oriented
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products and computer diagnostic system experience ( Cummins, MTU, Yanmar)

Physical and Environmental Elements:

This is a field service classification and employees work in a factory environment or in the field with exposure to noise and machinery and weather. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull; access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment Work involves considerable standing, walking, climbing, crawling, driving, reading, seeing, hearing, speaking, concentrating, communicating, stooping, bending, or sitting for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds and have exposure to working at heights. Potential for travel in other locations around the country. Ability to work overtime is a must.

Special Requirements/Certification:

CDL License, Factory training on crawler cranes, hydraulic rough terrain and truck cranes.
