Job summary

Magna Electronics is seeking a Test Driver to safely operate prototype and production vehicles to evaluate ADAS and autonomous driving features. Testing occurs on proving grounds, public roads, and controlled environments with strict safety procedures and engineering test plans.

You will work with engineers and calibration teams to collect and analyze data, document issues, and ensure vehicle readiness. The ideal candidate has excellent driving skills and familiarity with CAN data logging and

Qualifications

  • Excellent driving skills with precise maneuvers.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and safety.
  • Experience testing ADAS or autonomous vehicle prototypes preferred.
  • Ability to follow engineering test procedures and report issues clearly.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations of ADAS and autonomous systems in varying weather and traffic.
  • Execute test procedures and collect data for engineering analysis.
  • Identify, document, and communicate system issues and software anomalies.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and calibration teams to troubleshoot performance.
  • Operate data acquisition equipment, GPS, and vehicle instrumentation.
  • Perform pre- and post-test vehicle inspections ensuring safety.
  • Maintain detailed test logs and prepare clear reports.
  • Follow safety protocols and confidentiality requirements for prototype vehicles.

Candidates must have current and ongoing authorization to work in the United States.Job SummaryTest Driver, responsible for safely operating prototype and production vehicles to evaluate the performance, reliability, and functionality of advanced vehicle technologies. These include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, parking assist, and autonomous driving features. Testing is performed on proving grounds, public roads, and controlled test environments while following strict safety procedures and engineering test plans.Key Responsibilities- Conduct objective evaluations of ADAS and autonomous driving systems in a variety of weather, road, and traffic conditions. - Execute test procedures accurately while collecting data for engineering analysis. - Identify, document, and communicate system issues, unexpected behaviors, and software anomalies. - Work closely with engineers, technicians, and calibration teams to troubleshoot and validate system performance. - Operate data acquisition equipment, GPS systems, and vehicle instrumentation. - Perform pre- and post-test vehicle inspections and ensure vehicles are safe for operation. - Maintain detailed test logs and prepare clear, concise reports. - Follow all safety protocols and confidentiality requirements when handling prototype vehicles.Qualifications-Excellent driving skills with the ability to consistently perform precise driving maneuvers. - Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, accident avoidance, and defensive driving techniques. - Experience testing ADAS, autonomous vehicle systems, or automotive prototypes preferred. - Ability to interpret engineering test procedures and provide detailed technical feedback. - Strong communication and teamwork skills. - Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to obtain specialized test driver certifications as required.Preferred Experience- Experience with OEM vehicle development programs. Familiarity with FMVSS a plus. - Familiarity with CAN data logging, GPS equipment, and vehicle diagnostic tools. - Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, oversteer/understeer, braking performance, and tire behavior. - Experience driving manual and automatic transmissions, towing, and operating vehicles in low-traction environments.
