Job summary

Nexteer in Saginaw, MI is seeking an entry-level to experienced Electrical Technician for EMC testing and validation. You will perform EMC tests, write reports, and interact with test requestors while setting up equipment and maintaining records.

Role requires 0–3 years of experience and degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering. On-site position with opportunities to contribute to new test method development.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or BSEE.
• Ability to use typical EMC bench equipment and to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform EMC tests on devices and write test reports.
• Communicate with test requestors and summarize data.
• Set up devices for testing per customer/industry requirements.
• Set up RF amplifiers, antennas, EMI receivers, oscilloscopes, and generators.
• Maintain accurate records of tests, DUTs and results.
• Ensure correct calibration factors and ISO17025 compliance.
• Create/update laboratory test procedures.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a entry-level or experienced electrical technician position within the field of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) located in Saginaw, MI. This position supports the EMC Testing and Validation activities through performing Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Tests, writing reports, and communicating with test requestors. In addition, daily assignments will include: Set-up electronic devices for testing per customer and industry requirements. Monitor and record device under test (DUT) performance Summarize Data and Create Test Reports Assist in the development of new test methods Set up and safely use radio frequency amplifiers, antennas, EMI receivers, ESD Simulators, oscilloscopes, signal generators, transient generators, etc. Maintain accurate records of tests, devices and results Ensure correct setup and correct calibration factors are applied Comply with ISO17025 accredited quality system Create, maintain and update laboratory test procedures

Skills Required

Interest in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) or RF fields Analytical ability Problem solving / troubleshooting ability Ability to use typical electrical and EMC bench equipment (Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, EMI Receivers, Power Meters, etc) Proficient with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Access) Electronics experience including schematic reading, soldering and basic circuit construction Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others Excellent Communication, Documentation Skills and Attention to Detail while in a fast paced environment.

Skills Preferred

EMC testing experience preferred, but other radio or microwave equipment experience may be suitable. Experience with ISO17025 or similar Quality Systems Experience with Automotive EMC standards such as CISPR 25 and ISO 7637

Education Required

Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (or similar technical field) or BSEE degree (or similar technical field) or demonstrated equivalent on-the-job experience.
