Design the Electrical Infrastructure That Powers Critical Operations as a Technician Electrical/Civil Drafting Senior!

Start: ASAP | Location: Tempe, AZ (work is fully ONSITE) | Contract Length: 6 months, likely to extend | Schedule: M-F 7:30 am-4:00 pm

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Technician Electrical/Civil Drafting Senior to support the design, construction, modification, and maintenance of electrical systems, control structures, and utility facilities. This role combines advanced drafting expertise, engineering support, field verification, and technical leadership to produce accurate, high-quality electrical design documentation.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Bentley MicroStation , electrical or control system drafting, and the ability to work closely with engineers, technicians, and field personnel to deliver complex design projects.

What You'll Do

Electrical Design & Drafting

• Create and revise detailed electrical and control system drawings using manual and computer-aided drafting tools.
• Develop drawings from:
• Marked prints
• Engineering notes
• Calculations
• Verbal and written instructions
• Rough sketches
• Produce construction, modification, and maintenance drawings for electrical facilities and systems.

Drawing Management & Documentation

• Update drawings using field data, site images, and engineering revisions.
• Verify drawing accuracy with engineers and field technicians.
• Coordinate drawing uploads and document control activities within ProjectWise and ECM systems.
• Maintain drafting standards, templates, parts lists, and cell libraries.

Engineering Support

• Research and integrate engineering data from multiple sources.
• Perform calculations and apply engineering principles to support design efforts.
• Review designs and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist engineers with workload and project support activities.

Field Verification & Quality Assurance

• Conduct field checks to verify design compatibility with existing systems and infrastructure.
• Support quality assurance reviews of design documentation.
• Lead or participate in field research assignments as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve drafting processes and workflows.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical assistance and quality support to other drafting personnel.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior drafters.
• Support innovation and development of improved drafting procedures and standards.
• May assume higher-level responsibilities as part of career development opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Bentley MicroStation experience required
• Electrical drafting and/or control system drafting experience.
• Strong CAD drafting background.
• Ability to interpret engineering documents, drawings, and technical requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bentley Descartes experience
• Electrical utility, industrial, or control systems experience.
• Experience with:
• ProjectWise
• Engineering document management systems
• Electrical design calculations
• Field verification activities
• Experience maintaining CAD standards, libraries, and templates.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of related CAD drafting experience for Senior-level consideration
• Educational background and related experience will be evaluated based on position requirements.

Pay Details: $44.06 per hour
