Job summary

Shentel is expanding with Glo Fiber and seeks a Drop Technician to install broadband service drops for homes and businesses, both aerial and buried, using a vibratory plow/trencher and reading schematics.

You will work efficiently and independently to meet deadlines, with room to progress toward supervisory roles. Candidates should lift up to 70 lbs, work outdoors in various weather, and have a High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of field operations or construction experience.
• 0-2 years of broadband plant construction experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install broadband service drops for customer homes and businesses (aerial and buried).
• Operate vibratory plow/trencher and read, create, maintain schematics/diagrams.
• Bore under sidewalks and driveways when required and meet deadlines.

Job Summary

Responsible for demonstrating and developing the skills and knowledge required for installing broadband service drops this will include working with both aerial and buried drops for connecting broadband customer homes and businesses. The Drop Technician will operate a vibratory plow/trencher, read, create, maintain schematics/diagrams and bore under sidewalks and driveways when appropriate. This position requires a self-starter that can work efficiently and independently to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work. You must be able to successfully complete drop installation and broadband service activations for customer homes and businesses.

• Ability to carry and climb a 28' ladder from truck to pole and/or house.
• Ability to work in an array of weather conditions.
• Walking, sitting, kneeling & crouching for extended periods.
• Driving.
