Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Eagan to join a team focused on heavy‑duty vehicle maintenance.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
• Two years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience (preferred)
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test, a DOT physical and road test
• Background and motor vehicle check including last 3 years of employment

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer where applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
• Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines
• Performs other support duties to support operations

• Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
