Job summary

Sternberg Chevrolet in Louisville, KY is seeking a Technician Apprentice to gain hands-on repair experience while learning safety standards and pursuing full certification. You will work closely with seasoned technicians in a fast-paced shop environment, focusing on building practical skills and professional growth.

As you complete classroom or on-the-job training, you will tackle routine tasks, learn to use diagnostic tools, and contribute to a safe, efficient workspace.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physical stamina: Stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Soft skills: Eagerness to learn, attention to detail, reliability, basic communication or computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist & Learn: Work alongside senior mechanics to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component teardowns.
• Perform Basic Repairs: Oil changes, fluid checks, minor electrical or mechanical fixes, and part replacements.
• Use Tools & Diagnostics: Learn to operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostics software, and testing equipment.
• Maintain Safety & Workspace: Keep the shop clean and EH&S compliant.
• Complete Training: Attend company training sessions or manufacturer programs such as ASE certifications.

Work Settings: Automotive repair shops, industrial plants, commercial facilities, or field service locations.
