Job summary

Grease Monkey in Marietta, GA is seeking an Automotive Technician A with strong mechanical knowledge to perform brakes, rotors, oil changes, transmissions and cooling system maintenance, while diagnosing and communicating with customers.

Eligible candidates are experienced, safety-conscious, and able to educate customers on preventive maintenance. The role is full-time with hourly pay plus a commission percentage, and opportunities for advancement within the shop.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of related experience or training.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating manuals.
• Valid driver's license.
• State emissions certification and ASE certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and diagnostics per repair orders with accuracy.
• Work on complex repairs and diagnostics, including transmissions and heavy-line repairs.
• Assist in training Technicians B and C.
• Document work and test drive vehicles as needed.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and tool accountability.

Job Details: Job Location: Grease Monkey 1030 - Marietta, GA 30008, Position Type: Full Time, Job Category: Automotive, Summary/objective:

Technician A requires above average mechanical knowledge and performs most mechanical tasks assigned to them, including the following jobs or services: brakes, rotors, fluid exchanges, oil change, transmission, differential, cooling system maintenance, repairing and replacing tires and additional services (e.g. wiper blades, air filters, etc.). Technician A communicates with customers, educating them on necessary preventive vehicle maintenance. Additional duties may include some courtesy services, tire repair and replacement services.

You are paid an hourly rate and a commission percentage that is standard across the company.

Essential Duties

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with supervisory direction and factory standards.
• Work on more complex repairs and diagnostics than Tech B or C, including transmissions, heavy-line repairs and engine overhauls.
• Helps in the training of Technicians B and/or Technician C team members.
• Repair knowledge of Brakes, A/C services, Transmissions, Power Steering and Suspension Repairs and more. Diagnoses most cars that come through the shop, then repairs vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.
• Examines assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Partner with the Center Manager on scheduling repairs out for the day.
• Documents all work performed and recommended. Road tests vehicles as needed.
• Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notify the manager immediately of any damage that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Keeps the shop areas neat, clean and organized.
• Maintains and is accountable for all store-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
• Understands, and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know -this includes any SOP of our company guidelines and rules.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Participates in organization-sponsored training programs.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Five(5) plus years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine tickets, notes and other correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.
• Valid Driver's License.

Certifications

• State Emission Certification- if applicable in your state.
• Current ASE Certifications are a huge plus in this role.
• State Vehicle Inspector Certification- if applicable in your state.

Physical Demands / Work Environment and Requirements

• We require tools for this position that enable you to perform the majority of services that you are qualified to perform. You will need to have a toolbox with tools on site.
• You will be required to sign a contract with our uniform policy and procedure plan.
• Ability to work in cramped places, such as underneath a jacked-up automobile or a lower bay.
• Upper body strength and stamina to effectively use hand tools like hammers and wrenches and to make sure that fasteners are properly secured.
• Fine motor skills to be able to work with small fasteners, such as nuts, bolts, and washers.
• Vision: Ability to read diagrams, manuals and emails. Often, you are required to work with color-coded wiring.
• Ability to work in fluctuating and sometimes extreme weather temperatures.
