Grease-Monkey in Wildflower, Utah is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician A to perform brakes, rotors, fluids, oil changes, transmissions, and related services following repair orders and factory standards. The role includes diagnosing vehicle issues and communicating preventive maintenance to customers.

You will train less experienced technicians, participate in safety and quality programs, and ensure accurate documentation of work performed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and diagnostics as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following supervisory direction and factory standards.
  • Maintains and organizes shop areas, ensuring tools are accounted for and the workspace is safe and clean.
  • Communicates with customers to educate them on preventive vehicle maintenance and recommended services.
  • Road tests vehicles as needed to verify repairs and performance.

Job description

Summary/objective:Technician A requires above average mechanical knowledge and performs most mechanical tasks assigned to them, including the following jobs or services: brakes, rotors, fluid exchanges, oil change, transmission, differential, cooling system maintenance, repairing and replacing tires and additional services (e.g. wiper blades, air filters, etc.). Technician A communicates with customers, educating them on necessary preventive vehicle maintenance. Additional duties may include some courtesy services, tire repair and replacement services.**You are paid an hourly rate and a commission percentage that is standard across the company.Essential DutiesPerforms work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with supervisory direction and factory standards.Work on more complex repairs and diagnostics than Tech B or C, including transmissions, heavy-line repairs and engine overhauls.Helps in the training of Technicians B and/or Technician C team members.Repair knowledge of Brakes, A/C services, Transmissions, Power Steering and Suspension Repairs and more. Diagnoses most cars that come through the shop, then repairs vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.Examines assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.Partner with the Center Manager on scheduling repairs out for the day.Documents all work performed and recommended. Road tests vehicles as needed.Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notify the manager immediately of any damage that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.Keeps the shop areas neat, clean and organized.Maintains and is accountable for all store-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.Understands, and comply with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know -this includes any SOP of our company guidelines and rules.Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Reports any safety issues immediately to managementParticipates in organization-sponsored training programs.Other tasks as assigned.Qualifications: Education and/or ExperienceFive(5) plus years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine tickets, notes and other correspondence.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.Valid Driver's LicenseState Emission Certification- if applicable in your stateCurrent ASE Certifications are a huge plus in this role.State Vehicle Inspector Certification- if applicable in your statePhysical Demands / Work Environment and RequirementsWe require tools for this position that enable you to perform the majority of services that you are qualified to perform. You will need to have a toolbox with tools on site.You will be required to sign a contract with our uniform policy and procedure plan.Ability to work in cramped places, such as underneath a jacked-up automobile or a lower bay.Upper body strength and stamina to effectively use hand tools like hammers and wrenches and to make sure that fasteners are properly secured.Fine motor skills to be able to work with small fasteners, such as nuts, bolts, and washers.Vision: Ability to read diagrams, manuals and emails. Often, you are required to work with color-coded wiring.Ability to work in fluctuating and sometimes extreme weather temperatures
