Job summary

Nixon Power Services is seeking a Generator Technician to maintain standby generator systems, troubleshoot engines, install and test units, and respond to urgent service calls. The role requires hands-on work, safety adherence, and accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years of generator experience, familiarity with Kohler Power Systems, strong communication, and a dedication to customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical School Certificate or Military training, a plus.
• 1-5 years or more of generator experience required.
• Experience with Kohler Power Systems a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Exceptional customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on standby generator systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel engines.
• Repair and adjust transfer switches and perform major repairs on units.
• Install and test new generator units.
• Respond quickly to jobsites in case of emergency.
• Complete and submit work orders and reports in a timely manner.
• Prepare accurate quotes for repairs.
• Follow safety requirements, including proper use of PPE.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Candidates must be able to*:

• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and tools
• Reach with hands and arms
• Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
• Lift and/or move up to 50lbs., and occasionally up to 100lbs.
• Work in environments with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme outdoor weather conditions (both heat and cold), and potential of electrical shock.
