Job summary

Nixon Power Services in Charlotte, NC is seeking a hands-on Generator Technician to maintain standby generator systems, troubleshoot and repair gas/diesel engines, and install new generator units. The role requires quick responses to emergencies and timely documentation of work orders and quotes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical School Certificate or Military training, a plus.
• 1–5 years or more of generator experience required. Experience with Kohler Power Systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on standby generator systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel engines.
• Repair and adjust transfer switches and perform major repairs on units.
• Install and test new generator units.
• Respond quickly to jobsites in case of emergency.
• Complete and submit work orders and reports in a timely manner.
• Prepare accurate quotes for repairs.
• Follow safety requirements, including proper use of PPE.

What You’ll Be Doing

Candidates must be able to

• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and tools.
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Work in environments with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme outdoor weather conditions (both heat and cold), and potential of electrical shock.

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required.
