Job summary

Midwest Eye Consultants in Indiana is seeking a Technician to prepare patients for eye examinations, perform preliminary testing, and assist physicians with exams. No experience? Training is provided to help you grow within our patient-focused team.

The role includes scheduling, room prep, and supporting providers while maintaining a welcoming, safe, and efficient clinical environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

  • High-level customer service is required.
  • Previous medical office experience is preferred.
  • No experience? Training provided to help you learn the position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by explaining the features and benefits of preliminary testing procedures.
  • Perform all preliminary and doctor-requested tests on patients.
  • Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office.
  • Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
  • Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for patients and staff.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the office manager or team lead.

The Technician plays an important role on our clinical team by preparing patients and exam rooms for eye examinations, performing preliminary testing, and assisting our physicians with various procedures. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technician fulfills an important role in providing data that is critical to the doctor in order to provide proper care and treatment to each patient. This individual is responsible for various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, preparing the exam room, and assisting the doctors with any exam needs. They ensure the practice's quality standards are met, while completing specific, essential responsibilities that pertain to the patient’s experience and effective communication.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by communicating the features and benefits of our preliminary testing procedures.
  • Perform all preliminary and any doctor requested tests on all patients.
  • Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
  • Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
  • Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
  • Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead, and doctor(s).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (per ADA guidelines):
  • Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing.
  • Physical requirements: Light work. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
