Job summary

SGS Consulting in California is seeking a hands-on Wiring Technician to build and install test wiring harnesses for internal QA teams. You will cut and run Cat 6 and other low-voltage wires to devices, perform basic continuity testing, and document movements using Google Sheets.

Collaboration with engineering and QA is essential. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of wiring/harness experience, can read wiring diagrams, and are comfortable with Linux terminals.

Job Responsibilities

• Build and install test wiring harnesses for internal QA.
• Cut and run Cat 6 and other low-voltage wires to devices/cutting cat 6 wire and wiring to devices.
• Perform basic testing (continuity, low-voltage).
• Document wire movements and inventory using Google Sheets.
• Use Jira and Google Workspace for task tracking and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and QA teams.
• Running wire, cutting wire, wiring setup.
• May have to run testAbility to read and follow wire harness assembly instructions.
• Experience working with access control or cameras is a plus.
• Terminal experience is a plus because they can have them run test if needed.
• Terminal experience means someone with Linux terminal experience, Mac terminal experience is also acceptable.

Skills

• Low-voltage wiring and harness assembly – including cutting, crimping, soldering, terminating, and routing wires (e.g., Cat 6, 22 gauge).
• Tool proficiency – crimpers, wire strippers, multimeters and soldering tools (SMT and through-hole).
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.

Education/Experience

• 1–3 years of hands-on experience with wiring and harness assembly.
• Ability to read and follow basic wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs (up to 50 lbs with assistance).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Must pass a full drug panel screening (safety-sensitive role).
