Job summary

Elite Line Services is seeking a maintenance technician to perform basic and preventive maintenance on baggage handling systems and related equipment at the airport. You will diagnose issues under supervision and assist senior staff in repairs, with responsibilities including reading manuals and schematics.

A strong eye for safety and the ability to work in tight spaces are essential. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in mechanical/electrical work, experience with conveyors or passenger boarding

Qualifications

Job description

Overview

Completes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of Baggage Handling Systems and/or Passenger Boarding Bridges; mentors, trains and assigns tasks of other personnel assigned to assist in maintenance and repair activities in the absence of Senior Technicians and/or Supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Completes basic maintenance assignments involving preventive, routine and emergency maintenance, clearing system jams; shift inspections, cleaning, and/or electrical and mechanical adjustments.
• Diagnoses equipment failures under guidance of senior personnel; ensures equipment is running safely.
• Takes direction and seeks guidance and expertise of senior level personnel and accepts training and mentoring from them.
• Provides direction, guidance and expertise to personnel assigned to assist in maintenance and repair activities; conducts training and mentoring responsibilities; may act as lead in the absence of Senior Technicians and/or supervisors.
• Reads and interprets repair manuals, basic schematics and supervisor/manager's instructions.
• Works in tight and/or high spaces utilizing appropriate PPE and fall protection equipment.
• Follows and complies with all company and federally established policies and procedures; completes all applicable training courses assigned by the company.
• Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
• Performs additional duties/assignments as may be required by management.
• Assists with basic maintenance such as sweeping, cleaning and greasing.
• Completes all safety training as assigned by the Company.
• Compliance with all ELS safety programs, policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
• Minimum 2 years of previous mechanical or electrical experience.
• Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including weekends and holidays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous work experience in an Airport environment.
• Previous experience working on conveyors and/or passenger boarding bridges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering drawings.
• Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in an industrial environment.
• HVAC, welding/brazing, and/or plumbing knowledge and skills.
• Minimum 2 years of previous basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience.
• 3+ years industrial mechanical and/or electrical background.
• Minimum 1 year experience with PLC logic and/or Industrial HVAC certification.
• Advanced computer skills.

Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge at an intermediate level in working with Microsoft Windows to include: Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Company's insurance policy.
• Must be able to comply with the ELS Drug and Alcohol policy.
• Must be committed to working safely while accomplishing all tasks and promoting a safe work environment at all times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands vary by day. The job requires frequent standing, walking, and handling tools. Lifting up to 51 pounds, pushing and pulling up to 51 pounds, and performing tasks such as climbing, crawling, squatting, and bending. Occasional sitting and light weight handling also required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works under the Airport Terminal, where conditions may contain dust, dirt and continual noise that is below OSHA’s action level.
