Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a Master Technician to add value to each customer's service experience. You will diagnose, repair, and install automotive parts with the tools and procedures that ensure safe, high-quality results.

Proficient use of diagnostic and alignment equipment is required, along with strong customer-facing communication. You must maintain ASE certifications (A4, A5, A6, A7) and EPA refrigerant recovery credentials.

Qualifications

• Maintains ASE certifications in A4, A5, A6 and A7.
• EPA R-12/R134a certification for refrigerant recovery.
• Owns and uses tools appropriate to automotive service per Western Auto standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide value to customers and ensure satisfaction with services performed.
• Remove, repair, replace and install automotive parts per procedures.
• Read training materials and service tickets to perform tasks.
• Operate diagnostic and alignment machines safely and accurately.
• Train and guide new associates; maintain workshop safety and cleanliness.

Job DescriptionMASTER TECHNICIANPrimary Duties: The Master Technician’s primary responsibility is to add value to each client’s transaction ensuring that they are satisfied with their experience buying at Western Auto and that upon leaving the store are completely satisfied with their purchase. Using knowledge and technical skills, removes, repairs, or replaces and installs automotive parts using the tools, equipment, or the manual procedures that are safe and appropriate. Performs other automotive mechanical services as needed and authorized.Reads and comprehends training manuals, service tickets, etc.Has extensive knowledge about vehicles and Western Auto services that include brakes, alignment, air conditioning, suspension, front wheel assembly repair, and all installation jobs.Checks basic elements of the vehicle according to Western Auto’s methods for mechanical, electric, and courtesy inspections.Uses the diagnostic and alignment machines correctly.Has a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and the ability to drive cars with manual or automatic transmissions.Must have their own tools.Handles a fast-paced work environment, stress, and stressful situations in a professional manner.Answers customer’s questions related to finished service work and the vehicle’s related problems.Provides training and technical guidance to new associates and workmates.Operates the workshop lifts appropriately.Is competitive and has a team player’s attitude.Follows Western Auto and OSHA requirements to promote and provide a safe workplace.Follows EPA standard in terms of the work requirements, specifications, and materials management.Performs maintenance tasks that include sweeping/mopping the workshop floor, cleaning/maintaining the equipment, emptying the garbage bins, cleaning the parking area, etc.Follows the company guidelines in terms of protection, safety, hygiene, and the dress code.Physical Requirements:This job requires continually standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, turning around, climbing, and lifting and carrying weights up to approximately 75 lbs. (sometimes the weight will exceed 75 lbs). Adapts to temperature changes, to the summer heat and winter cold.
