Job summary

A leading health care organization in Bowling Green, KY is seeking an experienced Technician to join their team. The role involves determining specimen acceptability, performing technical procedures, and reporting test results. Ideal candidates will have an associate degree in a relevant science, clinical lab experience, and preferred certifications. This position offers full-time employment and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is highly preferred.
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
  • Experience reading hematology manual differentials is highly preferred.
  • Certified and able to perform phlebotomy is highly preferred.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation.
  • Report accurate and timely test results.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Job description

Are you an experienced Clinical Lab Professional? Are you looking to embark on a new challenge in your career, or start your career in Clinical Lab Science? If so, Labcorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Technician in Bowling Green, KY. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at Labcorp: “Improving Health, Improving Lives”.

Work Schedule: 4 days a week, 10 hours a day, Monday - Friday with one rotating day off. Could start as early as 7:00am and end as late as 6:30pm. Every 5th Saturday will work 5:00am - 10:00am. Overtime as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is highly preferred
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
  • Experience reading hematology manual differentials is highly preferred
  • Certified and able to perform phlebotomy is highly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
