The role can be based in Chicago, IL or Buffalo Grove, IL and offers hands-on experience with content management systems while gaining exposure to global work practices and professional growth in
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field; graduation not before September 2027.
- Proficiency in Python/C++/C#/HTML/SCSS/JavaScript/TypeScript or similar.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Able to commit to 40 hours per week for 10 weeks.
- Located within 50 miles of Chicago, IL; housing/relocation not provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist technical writers and software developers to restructure technical content.
- Research, analyze, and organize content using the latest technologies.
- Apply industry best practices to drive growth of Siemens as Technical Writer/Editor.
- Collaborate with mentors and cross-functional teams in an agile setting.
- Prepare and reorganize content for software projects and documentation tasks.
- Support content management workflows and document quality assurance.

This Technical Communication Internship will position you to be an integral part of the Siemens Engineering Team. You will work closely with Technical Documentation Experts as well as Software Developers and Testers. You will have the opportunity to gain experience with a content management system and apply your knowledge in all aspects of technical communications in an agile work environment. You will be asked to research, analyze and organize content using the latest technologies and apply industry best-practices to drive the growth of Siemens as Technical Writer/Editor. We are seeking qualified candidates for our Summer 2027 Smart Building Products Internship Program as a Technical Writing Intern. This role can be based in Chicago, IL or Buffalo Grove, IL.
- Support business across Smart Infrastructure
- Receive regular, formal classroom and virtual training in Agile software development, technical skill development, leadership, and develop an eye for business
- Work alongside senior technical writers and other program participants to deliver business value on tight deadlines
- Report out regularly to senior business leaders on deliverables
- Partner with mentors in upper management
- Exposure to a global work environment
- Apply problem solving skills to document complex workflows and procedures
- Develop content with audience and purpose in mind
- Work in cross-functional team environment
- Apply the tools and critical thinking skills needed to be an effective communicator in your professional life
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field. Candidates must not graduate prior to September 2027.
- Knowledge of Python/C++/C#/HTML/SCSS/JavaScript/TypeScript or other relevant programming languages.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
- Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week internship.
- Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Chicago, IL as this role does not provide housing or relocation support.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.
- Leadership skills inside and outside the classroom.

The hourly pay range for this position $28.00 - $34.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
