AMERICAN SYSTEMS in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a documentation specialist to lead the development and delivery of CDRLs, manuals, test plans, and transition records in a government contracting setting.

You will manage RMF artifacts, edits for accuracy, and publication production while coordinating with authors and ensuring timely completion within budget. A Bachelor's degree and 8–10 years of related experience are required, along with an active Top Secret clearance and US citizenship.

  • Maintains documentation supporting ICS/ICD/ISA updates, configuration control, RMF evidence, customer additions, operational procedures, and Government review packages.
  • Writes, rewrites and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical publications.
  • Edits manuscripts for completeness, accuracy, and language, and revises to meet style standards.
  • Assists with layout, space allocation, and publication planning per style and publishing requirements.
  • Verifies facts, dates, and statistics using standard references; oversees publication production within deadlines and budget constraints.

Responsibilities
  • Leads development, revision, quality control, and delivery of CDRLs, maintenance manuals, technical data, test plans/reports, implementation artifacts, onboarding documentation, and transition records.
  • Maintains documentation supporting **ICS/ICD/ISA** updates, configuration control, RMF evidence, customer additions, operational procedures, and Government review packages.
  • Writes, rewrites and/or edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications.
  • Edits manuscripts by reviewing content for completeness, accuracy and correctness of language use and revises manuscripts to meet predetermined standards of style and accuracy.
  • Looks for inconsistencies of thought, development or organization.
  • Confers with authors to recommend treatment of material.
  • Reorganizes, cuts or rewrites, as necessary.
  • May edit copy as well.
  • Allocates print space for story text, photos, and illustrations according to space parameters and copy significance, using knowledge of layout principles.
  • Plans the contents of publications according to the publication's style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements.
  • Verifies facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
  • Oversees publication production, including artwork, layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget requirements.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00/Yr. - USD $130,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
