Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a Technical Writer to support the CETs Division at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The role focuses on reviewing, editing, and creating technical documents, white papers, and templates for government work and contractors.

The ideal candidate will possess strong written communications, attention to detail, and a technical background; prior SIGINT or GEOINT experience is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools is required.

Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Minimum 3 years experience and AS/AA or 2-year Tech School; or HS/GED with 10 years or military experience E4 and up.
  • Experience in word processing to prepare complex and detailed documents with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong Written Communication.
  • Excellent Verbal Communication.
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review and edit technical documents, white papers, reports, and other deliverables for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Create, update, and maintain document templates using Microsoft 365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical content is clear, concise, and meets organizational standards.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to CETS Division formatting and style guidelines.
  • Track document revisions and maintain version control.
  • Assist with the organization and management of document repositories.
  • Maintains document version control, configuration management discipline, and compliance with program documentation standards and Army/DoD writing guidelines.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and government personnel to develop technical documents, briefings, and white papers, ensuring that format and content are tailored to the intended audience.
  • Develops, revises, and maintains clear, concise, and regulatory‑compliant policies, memorandums, standard operating procedures, and official Army correspondence.

About The Role

Peraton Labs is searching for a Technical Writer in support of the CETs Division and subordinate branches. Individuals will be working on a government site at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD with the customer and associated contractors as part of the REM and RADE branches. The individual will support CETS Division in the review, creation, and editing of technical documents, white papers, and templates.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent written communications skills, and proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools. In addition, a strong technical background is highly desirable; prior experience in a technical or analytical field – such as work as a Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) Analyst or Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Analyst – is considered a significant asset. Such experience demonstrates the analytical rigor, attention to detail, and capacity to grasp complex subject matter that are essential to producing high-quality documentation.

Details

Target Salary Range: $51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
