Job Description

As a Facilities Technical Writer & Documentation Specialist you will be the main contact for the entire department in those matters. You will create, develop, plan, write and edit; operational, instructional, maintenance, or test procedures. You will facilitate content management processes which adhere to all company and quality management principles. Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Research and translate technical information into controlled documents for non-technical and technical users. Document work processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards. Manages document control lifecycle by facilitating change management and periodic review processes for controlled procedures. Provides consultation or documentation review for others as needed or as requested.

This position is an on-site, 40hr work week - general days of Monday through Friday. However, the site operates 24/7 and there may be times you will flex your schedule to accommodate support of the night shift crews with their needs.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Develop Documentation

• Develops documentation through all stages of the writing process

• Conducts evaluations of audience, purpose, and format

• Adhere to current technical writing principles, the Micron style guide, and various technical communication and web development style guides

• Provides writing support to other writers specifically proofreading for grammar and mechanics and verifying language and style consistency among writers

• Creates flowcharts and process diagrams

• Use standard English grammar, mechanics, and composition

Manage Projects and Metrics

• Facilitate and participate in project implementation

• Assesses and reports roadblocks

Provide Writing and Editing Consultation

• Proofreads documents periodically for others including grammar, spelling, punctuation, adding headings and bulleted lists

• Educate subject matter experts and end users on technical writing and web requirements and standards

Manage Content

• Manages content following established standards

• Ensures that all content is appropriately secured within the content management system

Manage Business Process

• Supports each Facilities discipline to execute periodic document reviews

• Demonstrates knowledge of all of writing teams processes and procedures

• Maintains approval routes and notifications

Apply Appropriate Communication Principles to Match the Medium

• Determine best solution from different media options to meet end user or document needs

• Demonstrates knowledge of assigned areas’ processes, procedures, vocabulary, contacts, etc., contributing to the development of technical content

Environmental Health, Safety, and Security

• Follow all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations

• Be an active participant in the EHSS program by reporting all EHSS-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (ERT, Supervision, etc.)

• Be proactive in reducing incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards, or environmental releases

• Identify and promptly report hazards
