Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, seeks a Mid-Level Vehicle Systems Technician (Service Excellence Tech Writer) in California to document, test, troubleshoot, and support vehicle systems with emphasis on electrical wiring, CAD navigation, and system software rather than mechanical repair.

You will write service manuals, convert requirements to procedures, read wiring diagrams, review CAD models, and collaborate with engineering, validation, and operations teams in a lab or shop setting.

Qualifications

• Automotive, aerospace, medical devices, robotics or similar technical field experience.
• Experience in a lab or shop environment with tool and inventory management.
• Able to work in a team; not a solo role.
• Proficient with hand tools and electrical test equipment (multimeters, scopes, power supplies).
• Experience using diagnostic, logging, flashing, or network analysis tools.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams and follow procedures.
• Ability to review CAD files; CAD design work not required.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain service manuals, SOPs, work instructions, and technical reports.

Mid-Level Vehicle Systems Technician (Service Excellence Tech Writer)

Seeking a technician to support a vehicle systems program focused on documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and general system support. This role emphasizes electrical systems, wire harnesses, CAD navigation, and system-level software rather than traditional mechanical repair. Candidates with experience in automotive, aerospace, medical devices, robotics, or similar technical fields are encouraged to apply.

Scope

• Write and maintain service manuals, service SOPs, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and technical reports.


• Convert engineering requirements and test results into clear, repeatable service procedures.


• Document test results, repairs, defects, system configurations, and corrective actions.


• Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and validate electrical and electromechanical vehicle systems.


• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, pinouts, and system documentation.


• Navigate and review existing CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and model trees.


• Locate components, dimensions, notes, features, and design information within CAD files.


• Use basic CAD functions such as view controls, section views, measurements, layers, and assembly navigation.


• Use diagnostic, logging, flashing, and network analysis tools to identify and resolve issues.


• Support root-cause analysis and collaborate with engineering, validation, service, and operations teams.


• Maintain organized lab, shop, vehicle, tool, and inventory areas.

Required

• Automotive experience required.


• Technician experience in automotive, aerospace, medical devices, robotics, or similar technical fields.


• Experience working in a lab or shop environment, including tool and inventory management.


• Comfortable working in a team environment; this is not a solo position.


• Proficiency with hand tools and electrical test equipment, including multimeters, continuity testers, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.


• Experience using diagnostic, logging, flashing, or network analysis tools to troubleshoot hardware and software systems.


• Ability to read and follow schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical procedures.


• Ability to navigate and interpret existing CAD files; CAD design or modeling experience is not required.


• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Pluses

• Experience troubleshooting vehicle or embedded system software.


• Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.


• Experience with sensors, calibration, or system validation testing.


• Experience with CAD tools such as CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar platforms.

Estimated Min Rate : $35.00
