Job summary

STAR7 Group is seeking a remote freelance translator to translate technical documentation from English into Finnish. The ideal candidate is a native Finnish speaker with strong English skills and experience in technical translations, including tooling with CAT systems.

Responsibilities include ensuring accurate meaning transfer, adhering to glossaries and style guides, and maintaining terminology consistency under fast-paced project changes. GDPR considerations are noted in project guidelines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Translation, Applied Linguistics or equivalent experience.
• Native Finnish speaker.
• Excellent command of the English language in both comprehension and writing.
• Preferred experience in translation and proofreading specialized in Technical field.
• IT skills with knowledge and experience of CAT tools.
• Comfortable with technology and open to learn to use new tools.
• Linguistic and cultural competences of both source and target language.
• Adaptive to fast-paced work environment with multiple changes of project priorities.
• Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Position Overview

This is a remote position. Technical translator with Finnish Field of expertise: Technical documentation Language Combination: English into Finnish Location: Remote Employment type: Freelance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure target text correctly reflects the meaning of the source
• Perform linguistic tasks as per project instructions and other references (translation memory, glossary, style guides, etc.)
• Ensure high-grammatical accuracy while maintaining key terminology, spotting inconsistencies and incorrect cultural references
• Correct formatting/tagging, punctuation, country specifics, terminology, style, fluency as per guidelines
