Job description

RISE Renewable Energy is seeking a Technical Trainer to support the delivery of high-quality renewable energy training programs for new and developing technicians. This position is primarily focused on classroom and hands‑on instruction within our New-to-Industry training program, and the opportunity to grow into intermediate and advanced level course delivery over time.

The Technical Trainer will play a key role in creating a positive learning environment, guiding students through both theory and practical activities, evaluating performance, and helping maintain training readiness. This role is not responsible for full curriculum development from scratch, but it does include making minor updates and improvements to existing training materials, presentations, procedures, and assessments as needed.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching, working hands‑on, and helping prepare the next generation of technicians for success in the renewable energy industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Deliver instructor‑led training in classroom, lab, and hands‑on practical environments.
  • Support the delivery of RISE Renewable Energy’s New-to-Industry training program.
  • Teach entry‑level technical content related to renewable energy systems, equipment, safety practices, and field procedures.
  • Progressively develop toward supporting intermediate‑level training courses as experience and proficiency grow.
  • Lead students through demonstrations, practical activities, and guided hands‑on exercises.
  • Evaluate student understanding and participation through written assessments, observation, and hands‑on practical evaluations.
  • Provide clear instruction, coaching, and constructive feedback to support student development and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional training environment.
  • Inspect and monitor training spaces, tools, equipment, and safety resources to support daily instructional readiness.
  • Track consumables and report facility, equipment, or safety deficiencies that may affect training operations.
  • Collaborate with instructors and leadership to improve course delivery, student experience, and training effectiveness.
  • Provide feedback on existing course materials, instructional flow, practical activities, and assessments.
  • Make minor revisions to existing presentations, procedures, guides, and other training materials, including grammar, spelling, formatting, and content updates.
  • Participate in instructor meetings, internal development activities, and other training‑related initiatives.
  • Maintain professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct when interacting with students, customers, and team members.
  • Travel as needed to support training delivery.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both classroom and hands‑on instructional settings.
  • Ability to teach and engage adult learners with varying levels of experience and technical background.
  • Basic understanding of renewable energy systems, with preference for utility‑scale solar, battery energy storage, or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental electrical and mechanical concepts.
  • Ability to lead practical training exercises in a safe, organized, and effective manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to assess student performance and adjust instructional approach as needed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with instructors, leadership, and support staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to use classroom audio‑visual equipment and standard training aids.
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and a positive team‑oriented attitude.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry preferred.
  • Experience in technical instruction, field mentoring, workforce training, or structured on‑the‑job training preferred.
  • Experience in classroom, lab, or adult learning environments preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid/AED, NABCEP, manufacturer certifications, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
