Job summary

USC School of Dramatic Arts is hiring a Technical Theatre Lab Production Technician to join the Production team. This role focuses on advanced scenic construction, production implementation, and safe operation of the TTL within a multi-use environment, supporting student-designed productions.

Qualifications

• BA/BFA in Theatre, Technical Theatre, Theatre Production, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Years of progressively responsible theatre stagecraft and production experience.
• Expertise in scenic construction and implementation, including safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Production and Scenic Construction: support realization of scenic designs and install scenic elements using woodworking and metal fabrication.
• Technical Theatre Lab Operations: maintain safe, organized shop, manage equipment upgrades, inventory, and purchasing.
• Student Supervision and Instruction: supervise 20–30 student workers, train in safe use of tools and techniques, mentor students.
• Administrative Support: assist with budgeting, estimates, and scheduling to meet production and educational objectives.
