Job summary

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Field Service/Technical Support Engineer to provide outstanding service to customers. The ideal candidate will diagnose, repair, and support complex electro-mechanical, software, and networked systems both remotely and on-site.

Travel up to 25% annually, with responsibilities including customer installations and training, and reporting issues to engineering teams. A strong emphasis on customer relationships and clear communication is required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in an engineering discipline with 2+ years of related experience or MA/MS degree in engineering, or 6+ years of military/aerospace experience.
• Experience with radar and surveillance systems design, operation, or maintenance.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to build positive customer relationships through ongoing interaction.

Responsibilities:

• Provide remote and occasional on-site technical support to customers across multiple complex systems.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and debug complex electro-mechanical equipment, computer systems, software, and networked and/or wireless systems.

• Resolve complex issues independently or in collaboration with others, as needed.

• Respond to situations where first-line technicians are unable to isolate or resolve issues with malfunctioning equipment or software.

• Identify and report design, reliability, and maintenance issues, as well as software bugs, to design and software engineering teams.

• Interact frequently with customers to provide technical support and develop strong relationships.

• Support additional company functions, including customer installations and training, as needed.

• Travel domestically and internationally as required, up to 25% annually (approximately 2 - 4 trips per quarter).

Compensation Range: $72,000 - $90,000

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in an engineering discipline with 2+ years of related experience, or an MA/MS degree in an engineering discipline, or 6+ years of military or aerospace experience.

• Experience with the design, operation, or maintenance of radar and surveillance systems.

• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proven ability to build positive customer relationships through continued, long-term interaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Networking experience or certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+).

• Hardware and/or electrical installation experience.

• Experience with Unix, Linux, and MATLAB.

• Active Secret Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain a clearance.
