Job summary

Playbill, Inc. seeks a Stage Manager for Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet in Pittsfield, MA. The role oversees rehearsals, backstage operations, cue calling, and day-to-day management of performers and crew to ensure safe, efficient productions meeting artistic standards.

You will lead backstage during rehearsals and performances, coordinating with the Production Manager to maintain quality and show integrity, and you will call cues and prepare daily reports for each show.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating rehearsals and performances in a live theatre setting.
• Ability to call cues accurately and manage show flow.
• Strong communication and teamwork with production staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all rehearsals, children's rehearsals, dance classes, and the physical running of each performance.
• Advance call times with Dance Studio partners and manage day of show schedule for children’s cast.
• Serve as backstage operational lead during rehearsals and performances, coordinating performers, crew communication, and show flow.
• Collaborate with Production Manager to maintain artistic quality and integrity of the production.
• Call all performance and rail cues accurately and consistently.
• Prepare and distribute daily performance reports using the Company's reporting template.
• Manage crew schedules and coordinate day-of-show workflow with local stagehands and touring personnel.
• Share responsibility with the Carpenter for management of all production props, including puppets and hard goods.
• Oversee loading/unloading of props during load-in/load-out and assign preset locations.
• Oversee backstage organization, tracking, and readiness of all props.
• Monitor prop condition; report issues and coordinate timely repairs or replacements.
• Prepare and maintain daily water, coffee, and tea service for touring crew and dancers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
