Job summary

Ware Malcomb seeks a Technical Specifications Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and Interior Design projects. You will collaborate with project teams to craft specifications, client masters, and support submittal reviews, leveraging knowledge of materials, codes, and standards.

In this role, you will prepare manuals, suggest alternatives, lead periodic reviews, and mentor junior staff while staying current on products and trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• 15 years of experience in Architecture or Interior Design with at least 5 years writing specifications.
• Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive experience in construction and construction materials.
• Experience with MasterSpec, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
• Ability to speak publicly in front of small to large groups is preferred.

• Prepare comprehensive project manuals based on information provided by the Management Teams.
• Suggest alternate solutions when necessary.
• For complex projects, schedule periodic reviews during the development of documents.
• Review comments with the Management Team and respond to any questions or concerns.
• Take a mentorship approach when dealing with junior staff members.
• Stay knowledgeable about products and industry standards and trends.
• Be a general resource to the company in answering technical questions or providing opinions.

As a Technical Specifications Writer at Ware Malcomb, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and/or Interior Design projects. You will collaborate with project teams to develop specifications, client-specific masters, and support project teams with submittal review. Your expertise in building materials, codes, and industry standards will shape the quality and consistency of projects firmwide.

• Preferred equivalent of a bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• Preferred minimum of 15 years of experience within the field of Architecture or Interior Design with at least 5 years of writing specifications.
• Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Extensive experience in construction and construction materials.
• Experience in the use of MasterSpec, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
• The ability to speak (public speaking) in front of small to large groups of people is preferred.

This is a full-time, long-term position.
