Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Laboratory Operations professional to guide the technical operation of the laboratory, oversee instrument maintenance, and troubleshoot assays to ensure accurate results.

You will collaborate with the Technical Specialist team and laboratory management to validate changes, document procedures, and support technologists; completion of two-year tenure is required before transfer opportunities. This position does not sponsor visas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CLS/MLS, MT, chemistry or biology from an accredited institution; or equivalent with MLS certification.
• Two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
• ASCP or similar certification may be required depending on specialization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical operation of the laboratory, including instrument maintenance and assay troubleshooting.
• Provide direction for operational workflow and serve as a resource for technologists and lab staff.

Responsibilities

Works with the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator, and the laboratory management team to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory, including operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Validates and documents operational changes using the test life cycle process (TLCP). Provides direction for operational workflow, and serves as an expert resource for the work unit. Completes other projects or assignments as assigned. and serves as an expert resource for laboratory technologists.

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years of relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Capable of performing under time constraints, multi-tasking, and working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Demonstrates self-motivation, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently. ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
