Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Laboratory Specialist to lead the technical operation of the laboratory and support instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. You will guide operational workflow and serve as an expert resource for the work unit while ensuring quality through TLCP documentation.

The role requires a CLS/MLS-related degree with lab experience, ASCP or equivalent certification when applicable, and ability to work under time constraints in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, or biological science with MLS certificate.
• Two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
• ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty.
• Foreign trained lab personnel must provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation at applicant's expense.

Responsibilities

• Validates and documents operational changes using the TLCP life cycle process (TLCP).

Responsibilities

Works with the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator, and the laboratory management team to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory, including operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Validates and documents operational changes using the test life cycle process (TLCP). Provides direction for operational workflow, and serves as an expert resource for the work unit. Completes other projects or assignments as assigned. and serves as an expert resource for laboratory technologists.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years of relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.

Additional Qualifications:

Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Capable of performing under time constraints, multi-tasking, and working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Demonstrates self-motivation, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently.

Certification and License:

ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

Foreign trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.

DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor and Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from the supervisor is required.
