Job summary

Edelbrock Group is seeking a Technical Specialist to support CNC machining in the Manifolds Department. You will set up Haas and Makino CNC machines, make offsets, inspect parts with CMM and precision tools, and troubleshoot routine CNC issues.

The role requires reading blueprints, performing maintenance, and ensuring tolerances. Second shift Mon-Thu 3:15p-1:45a, physical standards apply in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Several years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of CNC machine controls, offsets, tooling, workholding, and machine recovery procedures.
• Ability to complete automatic tool changer and tool recovery procedures.
• Ability to perform basic CNC machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and routine maintenance on CNC equipment.
• Diagnose machine alarms, tool changer issues, sensor issues, lubrication concerns, and other routine problems.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and inspection requirements.
• Use precision measuring equipment and inspect components.
• Operate a coordinate measuring machine using inspection programs.
• Review and interpret CMM inspection results and identify out-of-tolerance conditions.

Job description

The Technical Specialist is a highly skilled, hands-on manufacturing professional responsible for supporting CNC machining operations within the Manifolds Department. This position combines CNC machine operation, machine setup, basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and quality inspection.

2nd Shift- Schedule is Monday-Thursday 3:15p-1:45a

Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and monitor Haas and Makino CNC machines used in the production of automotive manifolds and related components.
• Make appropriate offset and tooling adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
• Operate CNC machines during regular production and provide production coverage as needed.
• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and routine maintenance on CNC equipment.
• Diagnose common machine alarms, tool changer issues, sensor issues, lubrication concerns, and other routine operational problems.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments within the employee’s level of training and authorization.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and inspection requirements.
• Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Operate a coordinate measuring machine using established inspection programs.
• Review and interpret CMM inspection results and identify out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Several years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of CNC machine controls, offsets, tooling, workholding, and machine recovery procedures.
• Ability to complete automatic tool changer and tool recovery procedures.
• Ability to perform basic CNC machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Five or more years of CNC machining, setup, or troubleshooting experience.
• Advanced experience with Haas and Makino machines.
• Experience with Makino Pro5 and Pro3 controls.
• Experience with NX CAM software.
• Experience performing first-piece layouts and operating CMM equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting automatic tool changers, pallet changers, probing systems, tooling problems, and common machine alarms.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Regularly stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently use hands and arms to operate equipment, handle tools, and inspect components.
• Regularly bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull.
• Lift and move materials, tooling, fixtures, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Work around moving mechanical equipment, metal chips, cutting fluids, oils, noise, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing environment.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment.
