Job summary

Beacon Hill seeks an experienced workflow-focused software developer to lead and support a core enterprise system. You will work with business stakeholders across the company to solve tickets and advance the system’s ongoing development and use.

The role emphasizes strong SQL, C#/.NET, REST API design, and collaboration with IT teams and vendors, with a focus on delivering reliable production software and user value.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of SQL experience including queries and stored procedures
• Ability to write, tune, and troubleshoot complex queries against production systems and perform relational data modeling
• 4+ years of full-stack development, preferably C#/.NET
• Experience owning production applications spanning database, back-end API, and web front-end
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and building system-to-system integrations
• Proficiency with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Jira; ServiceNow is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication translating between technical and business audiences
• Comfort with change-management: source control, ticketing, environment promotion, release notes
• Ability to interface with internal IT and external vendors
• Team player who can work independently
• Experience supporting platform implementations, migrations, or major upgrades

Job description

Must have 4+ years of strong SQL experience including SQL queries and stored procedures

Must be able to write, tune, and troubleshoot complex queries against a production system database (joins, window functions, CTS's, execution plans) and must have relational data modeling ability

Must have 4+ years of full-stack software development experience preferably with C#/.net

Must have strong experience with ownership of production applications spanning database, back-end API, and web front-end

Must have proficiency in one modern back-end language and framework

Must have experience with Jira

Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow is ideal

Must have experience designing and consuming REST APIs and building system-to-system integrations, including authentication, payload validation, and error/retry handling

Must have proficiency with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins), including automated testing in the build

Must have some experience with basic AI prompts, or AI coding assistants in daily development, and have the judgment to review, test, and correct AI-generated code rather than accept it uncritically

Experience or familiarity with enterprise AI/LLM concepts: prompt engineering, hosted model APIs, tokens and context limits, hallucination risk, retrieval-augmented generation, and the data-privacy constraints governing regulated insurance data is plus

Experience supporting a platform implementation, migration, or major upgrade - ideally including data migration, UAT, and post-go-live hypercare is ideal

Experience working with 3rd party vendors is ideal

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate between technical and business audiences

Must have comfort with change-management discipline: source control, ticketing, environment promotion, and release notes

Must be able to respond to tickets requiring troubleshooting of the system

Must have experience with development as well as support and configuration of the system

Must have strong customer service and problem-solving skills

Must have strong workflow experience within the software platform

Must be able to handle enhancements, planning, and upgrades of the system

Must have the ability to analyze and determine root cause of issues

Must be able to interface with internal IT teams and external vendors to resolve problems

Must have the ability to work with business stakeholders and various technical teams

Must be able to work well in a team environment and independently
