Overview

MITER Brands is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI, is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily direction, leadership and mentoring to Quality Managers by ensuring that all quality team members have a crystal-clear understanding of their job functions as well as the QMS program requirements and the associated tests and procedures.
  • Owns the Corrective Action / Preventative Action (CAPA) process within their assigned plant. Manage the weekly CAPA meeting and shepherd active CAPA’s through root cause analysis, corrective action/preventative action and implementation.
  • Primary QC point of contact for supply chain partner non-conformances and discrepancy resolution.
  • Manage and execute in-plant QC Test Wall activities including pre-scheduled monthly product fabrication and inspection, first articles inspections and changes to supplies/parts/components.
  • Review all site-specific Quality Assurance Reports (QARs) and ensure QAR program compliance with the schedule of activities.
  • Collaborate on creating and deploying manufacturing/production-focused training content.
  • Review PCNs/ECNs and respond to manufacturing, supply chain or quality-related questions or concerns.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for outside quality-related inspection requests from agencies such as AAMA, ALI, EPA, NAMI and NFRC.
  • Establish and maintain the MI Calibration System for Quality and Manufacturing teams.
  • Represent the organization at job sites for critical field testing, product application discrepancies and customer concerns related to manufacturing processes and quality procedures.
  • Contribute to development, application and continuous improvement of the quality manual, supporting procedures, QPCNs and QCNs, and the tools and technologies used by Quality Team members.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Engineers and Continuous Improvement Managers/Leads to generate, evaluate, and recommend ideas to enhance quality or improve efficiency.
  • Identify, gather, process and interpret quality and productivity data for root cause analysis, problem solving and opportunity identification.
  • Coordinate with Product Management and Engineering on new product introductions, product changes and product discontinuations with respect to ECNs and related quality inspection changes.
  • Review, analyze and report quality metrics to the plant Director of Quality, plant General Manager and Supervisor.
  • Work with shipping clerks and supervisors to optimize logistics and increase shipping department efficiency while reducing costs.
  • Provide daily direction, leadership and mentoring to Shipping Supervisors to ensure timely and accurate shipping tasks.
  • Collaborate with Production Managers to ensure on-time and first-time correct delivery.
  • Implement automation in scheduling processes and elevate processes to better serve customers and the sales team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with 4-6 years of experience in manufacturing processes and/or production engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Practical knowledge of Quality Inspection/Auditing Processes and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of Process Improvement Tools: Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Five S, Rapid Prototyping, Reliability and Predictability analysis, etc.
  • Understanding of manufacturing process principles, statistics, quality control, and equipment design and operation.
  • Ability to retrieve, format and analyze data for problem solving and planning.
  • High level of customer focus both internally and externally.
  • Ability to interface with individuals with diverse backgrounds at varying levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of common manufacturing metrics (e.g., OEE, defect rates).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, with strong expertise in MS Excel.
  • Strong presentation and analytical skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments; capable of conflict resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present arguments and support conclusions with data; professional but willing to question strategy.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; second shift may be required from time to time.
  • Ability to travel as needed, approximately once per month, with variability.
