Job summary

PPG Industries is seeking a Technical Service Lead for the EMEA region. This field-based role can be located in the UK, Germany, Spain or France and involves coordinating the team for Easy Open End and Personal Care segments, plus providing technical service and trial support across the EMEA region.

• Perform troubleshooting at customer sites and learn from failed trials to prevent repeats.

Technical Service Lead EMEA

Can be located in UK, Germany, Spain or France - covering EMEA Region.

Join our Packaging Coatings business in a technically rewarding position encompassing project management, customer interaction and technical support. You will coordinate the work and lead the team for the 2 selected segments ( Easy Open End and Personal Care ) and provide technical service and trial support to our Customers throughout the EMEA region.

You will report to the Technical Service Manager EMEA.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend important trials across the entire EMEA region
• Previous experience in end-makers or engineering
• Improve machinery settings
• You will ensure all trials and plant related activities are carried out and managed to our EHS policies
• Provide technical support to customers with new technologies and legacy products.
• Lead technical assistance to our major customers
• You will ensure all trials and plant related activities are carried out and managed to agreed standards. You will use “Best-in-Class” line trial and plant audit methodologies across Coatings in EMEA, using Secure Launch and other PPG quality tools.
• Deliver training programmes to broaden the skills matrix for all areas of the segment both within PPG and at customer facilities
• Partner with equipment suppliers to support PPG understanding and enhance technical support capability of PPG technical team at customer sites.
• Deliver world-class post-conversion technical support to enhance plant relationships and to respond quickly to problems using established problem analyses, including Kepner-Tregoe programmes
• Instigate continuous improvement programmes at customer facilities
• Establish working partnerships with plants
• Establish working partnerships with PPG peers.
• Use the Technical Support SharePoint site to share data and experience on a Global basis.
• Perform Troubleshooting activities at customer sites.
• Investigate and understand failed trials to learn how to ensure the same issues are not repeated.
• Work with Segment Support labs to test trial can items and support local development projects if necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years working in a technical support / service role in the coatings or packaging industry.
• Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Engineering background.
• English speaker to a professional level.
• Willingness to travel within EMEA (up to 70%).
