Job summary

Catalyx is seeking a Field Service Engineer to diagnose and repair automation equipment at customer sites across the region. You will maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA systems and implement minor software in line with customer needs.

This role requires strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, the ability to read schematics, and excellent customer communication. Travel of 30–50% and a valid driver's license are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation systems in manufacturing.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
  • Knowledge of HMI and SCADA platforms.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and process documentation.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 30-50%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency field support and technical assistance to customers.
  • Document service activities, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Train operators and maintenance staff on operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and customer teams.
  • Maintain compliance with safety requirements and company policies.

Requirements
  • Required: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation systems within manufacturing environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs such as: Rockwell Automation Allen-Bradley/Siemens/Schneider Electric.
  • Knowledge of HMI and SCADA platforms.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and process documentation.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 30-50%.
Preferred
  • Experience with batch processing, chemical processing, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or packaging operations.
  • Experience with VFDs, servo systems, robotics, and motion control.
  • Understanding of ISA standards and industrial networking.
  • OSHA and industrial safety training.
