Job summary

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Technical Project Manager, Site Deployment to lead the seamless transition of new data centers to Site Operations. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Business Operations, ensuring operational readiness at turnover.

You will manage schedules, review commissioning docs, and guide staffing, training, and standardization across multiple greenfield sites, with travel up to 10% within North America.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of combined data center or mission-critical project management experience.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects with schedules, budgets, and acceptance criteria.
  • 2+ years in a technical role in Critical Facilities Operations or Maintenance Operations.
  • 2+ years in industrial Construction or Commissioning in a technical capacity.
  • 2+ years of Project Management experience managing cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to review technical documents such as commissioning reports and electrical/mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead teams across departments and communicate with stakeholders.
  • PMP or similar certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%, including international travel in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Business Operations, and Site Operations teams to transition new data centers to Site Operations.
  • Develop and manage deployment project schedules, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation plans for site readiness.
  • Perform technical reviews of commissioning documentation, TAB reports, and turnover deliverables.
  • Recruit, staff, onboard, and train new Operations teams at greenfield sites for operational launch.
  • Ensure Operations protocols and standards are in place for new facilities to achieve readiness.
  • Oversee quality of Commissioning and Facility Acceptance to deliver a sound facility to Site Operations.
  • Maintain stakeholder communication across all project phases and update on progress.
  • Track deliverables and elevate risks with mitigation strategies.
  • Lead formal technical reviews of O&M manuals, as-built drawings, permits, and commissioning reports.
  • Ensure site readiness, safety protocols, permits, and asset management are in place.

Position Overview

This role will be based in Sparks, Nevada & Pheonix, Arizona, following our flexible work policy (3 days in-office and 2 days flexible).

The Technical Project Manager, Site Deployment is responsible for managing the seamless transition of new data centers to Site Operations teams and ensuring Operational Readiness at Site Turnover from Construction. Requirements for this position include a strong understanding of data center facility operations, best practices, and site critical systems, combined with the ability to plan, track, and deliver multiple concurrent deployment projects on time and within defined operational quality standards.

This position is highly cross-functional, interfacing with peer teams in Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Business Operations, and Site Operations, requiring engagement at multiple levels of management throughout the company. This role demands both project management skill and technical acumen, as responsibilities include technical document reviews (e.g., Test and Balance (TAB) reports, commissioning documentation), verification of system performance, and ensuring operational standards are met prior to turnover.

Essential Job Functions
  • Act as a key point of contact coordinating Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Business Operations, and Site Operations teams to seamlessly transition new data centers to Site Operations.
  • Develop and manage detailed deployment project schedules, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation plans for site readiness activities.
  • Perform technical reviews of commissioning documentation, TAB reports, and other turnover deliverables to validate operational performance and compliance with design intent.
  • Manage the recruitment, staffing, onboarding, and training of new Operations teams at greenfield sites, contributing to the effective operational launch of these locations.
  • Ensure complete program-level Operations protocols, procedures, and standards are in place for newly built facilities to achieve Operational Readiness.
  • Ensure quality of Commissioning and Facility Acceptance necessary to deliver a technically sound facility to Site Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain communication and collaborate with stakeholders during all phases of a new data center build.
  • Manage schedules and facilitate cross-team engagement keeping pace with Construction delivery dates.
  • Track project deliverables against defined timelines and elevate risks/issues with recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure timely completion of Ops Site Deployment quality control checklists and Site Start-Up processes.
  • Compile Procedures (MOP, SOP, EOP Templates) for Site Start Up across all Sites in deployment and adapt MOP, SOP, EOP templates to Site Specifics.
  • Ensure the readiness of Operations Support spaces including Tool shop, Critical Spares storage spaces.
  • Ensure the site is safe to operate with Safety Protocols, Safety Equipment, and Signage in place.
  • Ensure Billing System Readiness and cross-functional contributions are fully coordinated.
  • Ensure Asset Management Systems are in place and Site Equipment is fully accounted for including Warranty and Spare Parts information.
  • Ensure CMMS is fully populated with equipment data and maintenance scheduling plans.
  • Ensure the Site Security Systems are fully deployed at Site Turnover.
  • Ensure Site Operators are fully trained and ready to operate and maintain critical systems.
  • Ensure Permits, Licenses, Agreements are in place to facilitate Operations.
  • Ensure 3rd party maintenance suppliers and contract agreements are set-up prior to Site Turnover.
  • Support site mobilization including procuring spares, tools, and consumables.
  • Lead formal technical review of O&M manuals, as-built & record drawings, permits, certificates, warranty documents, and commissioning reports prior to turnover.
  • Perform site walks and site turnover walks to ensure Operational Readiness requirements are met.
  • Share lessons learned that have been captured for consideration/mitigation in future builds.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the formal transfer of site responsibility from Construction to Operations.
Job Requirements
  • 3+ years of combined experience in data center or mission-critical project management and technical operations.
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects with defined schedules, budgets, and technical acceptance criteria.
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical role in Critical Facilities Operations or Maintenance Operations with exposure to mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, OR
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial Construction or Commissioning in a technical capacity, OR
  • 2+ years of Project Management experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and reviewing technical documents such as commissioning reports, TAB reports, electrical and mechanical drawings, and equipment submittals.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to define these areas for other teams and team members.
  • Ability to create teams from various departments and work in a high-level collaborative environment while promoting a teamwork mentality.
  • Ability to initiate, drive, and deliver projects, and communicate plans and findings to internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of total work time, including internationally in North America.
