Job summary

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Sr. Technical Project Manager, Site Deployment - Mechanical Design Assurance, to provide operator-focused mechanical review and design assurance for new data center builds, expansions, and major fit-outs across North America.

You will work with Design Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Site Operations to ensure operability, maintainability, safety, and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data center operations, mechanical engineering, commissioning, critical facilities maintenance, construction QA/QC, or mission-critical infrastructure delivery.
• Strong working knowledge of data center mechanical systems, including chilled water, airside cooling, pumping systems, mechanical controls, water treatment, and supporting utility systems.
• Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, commissioning documents, sequence of operations, and technical vendor documentation.
• Ability to identify operability, maintainability, reliability, safety, and lifecycle risks within mechanical design packages before construction execution.
• Ability to travel up to 20% within North America based on project and site needs.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical design milestones including 30%, 60%, 90%, IFC, bulletin, and construction revision packages.
• Assess chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, pumps, piping, valves, heat exchangers, cooling towers, dry coolers, economization systems, filtration, water treatment, controls, and associated support infrastructure.
• Validate maintenance access, equipment clearances, rigging paths, valve accessibility, isolation strategy, redundancy philosophy, and operational workflows within mechanical spaces.
• Track design review comments, assigned actions, and open mechanical issues through closure with Design Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Site Operations stakeholders.
• Participate in recurring design coordination meetings, page turns, constructability reviews, operability reviews, and commissioning planning sessions.

This role represents Site Operations and Site Deployment during design development, page-turn reviews, submittal reviews, RFI responses, commissioning strategy alignment, and movement of design packages toward Issued for Construction drawings.The position ensures that mechanical systems are designed and delivered in a manner that is operable, maintainable, safe, reliable, and aligned with long-term Mission Critical Operations requirements.
