Job description

Technical Project Manager II

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It includes manufacturing and supply chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop tools to help production teams coordinate day‑to‑day activities.
  • Liaise and facilitate the efforts of a broad multi‑functional group including design, manufacturing, and test engineering as well as supply chain and other operations teams to enable the successful integration of the rocket.
  • Make informed decisions regarding build sequence and schedule to optimize efficiency and meet project timelines.
  • Triage and provide engineering direction on off‑nominal and discrepant situations to enable production to move forward.
  • Take ownership of the entire build flow, including reporting progress and challenges to leadership, recovery planning, and continuous improvement of execution.
  • Manage optimization activities to decrease unit lead time and cost to radically reduce the cost of access to space.
  • Mitigate risks and manage impacts to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver required verification artifacts at completion of build to successfully transfer the rocket into operational service.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering; physics; or other major requiring engineering or manufacturing core courses.
  • 2–4 years of experience in designing, developing, or supporting complex engineered products.
  • 1+ year of project management or system integration experience.
  • Enjoy leading and participating in highly collaborative efforts and desire to lead and manage small teams on a fast‑paced hardware and flight projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results.
  • Experience with core project‑management status skills, including logic‑linked scheduling, budget and schedule variance tracking, and reporting to leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience communicating with teams of varying sizes.
  • Ability to earn trust and build positive, professional, and inclusive relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with budget and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
  • Experience with risk management, configuration management, and requirements management.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, or similar experience working in vehicle integration and test.
  • Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle.
  • Experience with human spaceflight or high‑performance systems.

  • Required for certain job profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain a Merchant Mariner Credential, including pre‑employment and random drug testing and DOT physical.
