Job summary

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead multi-disciplinary power infrastructure programs for data centers and critical operations. You will plan requirements, manage schedules, engage stakeholders, and present tradeoffs to executives while guiding engineers through complex deployment challenges.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, a PE license, 8+ years in energy PM, and experience with HV-MV-LV systems, BESS, and grid modernization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • PE license or Chartered Engineer.
  • 8 years of experience in program or technical project management in the energy industry.
  • Experience managing transmission and distribution, substation, or mission-critical utility infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments, HV-MV-LV, energy management and smarter grid solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategic development of phased power solutions to meet data center demand, integrating HV/MV with BESS and generation.
  • Drive design and engineering management of campus-level infrastructure solutions with cross-functional teams.
  • Bridge commercial acquisition and technical operations, ensuring adherence to NERC/FERC codes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Define a global reference architecture for on-site power generation to optimize cost, reliability and carbon reduction.
  • Evaluate new power technologies by building cases to support major capital investments.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, another relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent.
  • 8 years of experience in program or technical project management in the energy industry.
  • Experience managing relationships and leading transmission and distribution, or substation, or mission critical utility infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments, HV-MV-LV, and energy management and smarter grid Solutions.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with a focus on Electrical Power or Mechanical Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts and strategy to VP-level executives.
  • Technical publications or patents related to power systems, generation or energy storage.

US: $192000 - $278000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Support the strategic development of phased power solutions to meet data center demand, ranging from immediate to long-term requirements. This includes integrating systems that utilize High Voltage (HV) or Medium Voltage (MV) utility infrastructure alongside Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and power generation technologies.
  • Be responsible for driving design and engineering management of campus level infrastructure solutions, collaborating with cross-functional partners and resolving challenges effectively.
  • Bridge the gap between commercial acquisition and technical operations by ensuring that all project-related activities, methodologies, and deliverables strictly conform to NERC, FERC codes, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Define a global reference architecture for on-site power generation that optimizes costs, reliability, and carbon reduction.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging power technologies by building rigorous technical cases to support major capital investments.
