Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, plan requirements, identify risks, manage schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You will explain analyses and recommendations to executives and discuss technical tradeoffs with engineers.

The PMO delivers compute, storage and GPU products end-to-end for Cloud and TI customers, driving system and solution development for next-gen compute

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of program management experience.
  • Experience in hardware NPI.
  • Experience with distributed systems and full end-to-end software stacks.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in hardware engineering, software engineering, computer hardware.
  • Experience with launching IaaS VM, bare metal and machine of the day products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large cross-cutting programs and partner cross functionally across Google to pull together holistic program plans to deliver products.
  • Lead Compute NPIs involving technologies, servers/accelerator design, development and deployment to datacenters at scale with full end-to-end software stack for cloud and shared compute infrastructure.
  • Set the vision and direction for a program by outlining goals and objectives, evaluating and supervising multiple projects, organizing cross-project work, and defining governance standards.
  • Manage multiple cross-functional programs with competing priorities; align Cloud and central processes; escalate and unblock blockers; keep leadership informed.
  • Use technical judgment to drive delivery, conduct technology reviews, challenge proposals and build consensus.

  • Firm sense of accountability, ownership for the project lifecycle and sound knowledge of project management.
  • Technical judgement and understanding of large-scale distributed systems.
  • Engagement with director level, and executive, with proven experience in executive-level communication.

The Platforms Infrastructure Engineering Program Management Office (PMO) is part of Technical Infrastructure under AI2 programs organization and partners with Google Compute Engine (GCE)/TI Engineering, Networking, Data Center, Supply Chain and Operations teams to deliver a broad product roadmap of AI/ML and Standard Compute systems, and solutions critical to enabling Cloud (3P) IaaS business and Google (1P) services.

CSG-PMO (part of PIE PMO) delivers industry leading Compute, Storage and GPU products E2E for both Cloud and TI customers first to market. The team focuses on delivering business impacts with customer first approach and with velocity, quality, and predictability. This is an Individual contributor role and will lead Technical Program Manager (TPM) driving system and solution development to deliver next generation standard compute systems for Cloud, TI and AI/ML use cases.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:
  • Lead large cross-cutting programs and partner cross functionally across Google to pull together a holistic program plans to deliver products.
  • Lead Compute NPIs that involves, technologies, servers/accelerator design, development and deployment to our datacenters at scale with full end to end software stack for cloud and shared compute infrastructure.
  • Set the vision and direction for a program by outlining goals and objectives, evaluating and supervising multiple projects, organizing cross-project work within the program, and defining program controls/governance/standards.
  • Manage multiple cross-functional programs simultaneously with competing priorities. Drive consistency between Cloud processes and central processes. Manage escalations and unblock obstacles, ensure all leadership/stakeholders are aware of progress/blockers on a continuous basis.
  • Use technical judgment to drive project delivery, technology reviews, challenge proposals and build consensus.
