Job summary

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPgM) to lead complex, cross-functional database projects. You will coordinate with Engineering, Product, and TPM leadership to define scope, milestones, and execution frameworks, ensuring delivery excellence across distributed teams.

You will engage with executives, shape roadmaps, and communicate trade-offs clearly while driving improvements in launch readiness, metrics, and governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in technical program management or engineering leadership, delivering distributed systems or enterprise infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Define program scope with leadership to drive on-time, scalable delivery of large-scale database systems.
  • Architect and scale execution frameworks, metrics, and governance to improve velocity and accuracy.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies, trade-offs, and risks across distributed database teams.
  • Drive alignment among exec stakeholders, product managers, and engineering leads with data-driven updates.
  • Identify gaps and drive improvements in product lifecycles and multi-team integrations.

Job description

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in technical program management or engineering leadership, delivering distributed systems or enterprise infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience running large programs and managing teams.
  • Technical judgement and understanding of distributed systems.
  • Domain expertise in database engines/data platforms (e.g., relational databases, NoSQL, distributed storage, query engines, or managed cloud services like Spanner, AlloyDB, Cloud SQL, Bigtable).
  • Track record of operating within a Leadership Triad to influence product roadmaps, drive strategic alignment, and manage complex multi-team dependencies.
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset, with experience designing program metrics, tracking launch readiness, and driving engineering operational excellence.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to synthesize technical details into trade-offs, risk assessments, and executive-ready narratives.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. As a Technical Program Manager (TPgM) in Databases, you will be a strategic scale multiplier operating within the leadership Triad (Engineering, Product, TPM). You will lead complex, cross-functional programs, architect execution frameworks, and drive alignment across executive stakeholders and technical leads.
