Job summary

Tuopu Group’s EV Technology Center—Bay Area, Irvine, CA or Detroit, MI—is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead automotive programs from concept to production launch.

The role requires strong PM experience (5+ years), APQP knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with customers and China teams across time zones. Occasional travel to customer sites is expected in this dynamic, fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• BS minimum in an applicable engineering discipline (Mechanical or similar preferred).
• 5+ years in project/program management and product development.
• Knowledge of vehicle suspension/chassis systems.
• Experience with motors, stator and rotor.
• Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and China counterparts.
• Flexibility to work across time zones (PDT and/or Beijing time).
• Proficient in computers and various software applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned projects, follow APQP, ensure timely prototype and production launches.
• Be primary contact with customers and internal teams; travel to sites as needed; ensure launch quality.
• Work with customer engineers to understand design requirements (GD&T, SOR/CTS, testing).
• Review documents for technical accuracy submitted to customers.
• Provide engineering support to sales; clarify BOM and drawings/material requirements.
• Coordinate with HQ (China) Quality Department on print/requirements.
• Apply problem-solving to improve design/process; ensure robust production process.
• Maintain relationships with customers and understand business needs beyond engineering.
• Collaborate with local and international teams.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Tuopu EV TC is looking for 1 Technical Program Manager

Locations: Bay area or Irvine, CA or Detroit, MI

Salary: Michigan - $130K & California - $150K

Role Description:

Duties will include but not limited to:

• Mange assigned project. Follow APQP requirement and understand customer’s technical requirements and expectations, balancing and negotiating compromises when needed, comprehend and respect project deliverables and timelines for all internal and external stakeholders, ensure prototype and production launch in a timely professional manner
• Be the primary contact with customer and internal teams, during design development cycles and production launches. Frequent travel to customer sites is required as parts of the development process. Ensure program launch quality
• Working with customer engineering staff to fully understand design requirements such as print GD & T, SOR/CTS, testing requirements (ADVP&R) and work with internal R & D team to develop technical solutions on a timely manner
• Review and ensure the technical accuracy and proficiency for documents submitted to customers.
• Provide sales staff with engineering support. Guide stakeholders to a clear understanding BOM, drawing/material requirements and answer other engineering questions
• Support and engage Headquarter (China) Quality Department staff to understand print and technical requirements on products when requested
• Utilize problem solving skills and actively look for robustness on product design/process improvements. Gate control on performance and dimension data collected during development, milestone builds to ensure sufficient data collected to develop production print and ensure a capable process is launched for production
• Maintain a good professional relationship with customers and sustain a good understanding of customer's business needs and project requirements beyond engineering
• Must be a team player and is able to work collaboratively with local and international teams
• Complete other duties reasonably requested by direct manager, customers

Position Qualifications:

• BS minimum in an applicable engineering discipline (Mechanical or similar preferred)
• Project/Program Management experience (A minimum of 5-year experience in project/program management and product development preferred)
• Knowledge of vehicle suspension/chassis system and components
• Motors, stator and rotor experience
• Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills.

• Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and co-workers in China.
• Proficient in computers and various software applications
• Flexibility of working hours to accommodate customer meetings in different time zone (PDT and/or Beijing time)

Preferred:

• Industry experience with Automotive OEMS & Suppliers is preferred.
• Mandarin speaking is optional.
• Steel stamping and welding experience of suspension/chassis components preferred
