Technical Program Manager | Data Center Network Deployments | Remote
Our client is building and expanding data center network capacity at fleet scale. As the accountable program lead, you would take approved network designs and turn them into predictable delivery across many sites, from new builds and capacity expansions to retrofits, refreshes and decommissions.
This is a program leadership role first. You will not configure network equipment, and you will not own the design. You will own the plan, the sequence and the commitment, and you will be the person who stops a deployment from starting when the design, materials or site are not ready.
What you will do
- Own a half-over-half execution roadmap across new builds, front-end fabric projects, technology modifications, retrofits and special initiatives
- Run intake and readiness gates, and refuse to start work until the design package, bill of materials, method of procedure, site requirements and dependency map are complete
- Own delivery from kickoff through material arrival, installation, provisioning, validation, operational handoff and closeout
- Hold portfolio-level visibility of hardware demand, supply and need-by dates, and make allocation trade-offs between competing projects and regions
- Keep a risk and dependency register with quantified schedule impact, and run change control for design, BOM, scope and schedule changes
- Align engineering, supply chain, construction, logistics, site teams and vendors, without direct authority over any of them
- Present portfolio health, material risk and decisions needed to senior leadership
- Build automated reporting and dashboards from imperfect operational data, and turn lessons learned into reusable playbooks
What we are looking for
- 10+ years of technical program or portfolio management in network infrastructure, data centers, cloud infrastructure or telecommunications
- Ownership of complex, multi-site deployment programs from intake through operational handoff
- Working knowledge of data center network fabrics, including spine and leaf, top of rack, physical topology and redundancy, enough to question a design package and hold your own with engineers
- Hands-on experience with BOMs, hardware demand planning, material allocation and supply-risk management
- Proven ability to prioritise concurrent programs that share hardware, engineering and field resources
- A track record of building metrics, dashboards and automation that remove manual reporting
- Executive communication, with concise written updates and confident readouts
Who this is not for
- If your background is software, application or server program management, this role will not suit you.
- The same applies to construction project management with no network content, or to program management that stops at coordination and never touches hardware supply or readiness gating.
- Telecom, carrier and data center network deployment backgrounds are very welcome.
Preferred
- Data center network fabric delivery at hyperscale or across a large fleet
- Front-end fabric deployments, lifecycle retrofits, hardware migrations or decommissions
- Experience partnering with construction, facilities, supply chain, logistics and field engineering
- AI-assisted workflow optimisation or program analytics
- PMP, PgMP, or network, cloud or data center certification
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent experience. An MBA is a plus.
