Job summary

Bloomberg is seeking a Technical Product Manager - Security Data for the CTO Office in New York. You will lead the long-term vision for Bloomberg’s security data products and drive the strategy with the CISO and engineering teams.

Work across departments to build a deep understanding of data technologies, telemetry capabilities, and security workflows while prioritizing initiatives and delivering impact. This is a high-leverage, cross-functional role in a security-focused environment.

The Security Services Architecture team, part of the CTO Infrastructure group, solves complex security problems and prototypes the next generation of infrastructure security technologies. Whether we’re designing novel security controls or threat modeling our distributed systems, our goal is to define the future of how we secure Bloomberg’s infrastructure.

As a Technical Product Owner, your leadership skills will influence the roadmap for future security technologies, while working alongside motivated engineers across the company to keep Bloomberg at the cutting edge. Our team works across many areas of security architecture, and you will have the opportunity to focus on the projects you are passionate about and bring your expertise to help reach our team’s goals.

What’s in it for you:

Much like Bloomberg as a whole, Bloomberg’s security program runs on data. Our team defines the long-term architecture and strategy for Bloomberg's security data. Working closely with the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) and Engineering teams, we design the technologies, platforms, and operating models that enable Bloomberg to inventory its diverse systems, detect and investigate cyber threats, and measure and remediate security issues.

• The security data platform, which transforms petabytes of structured and unstructured data such as text, time series, and events into machine-readable knowledge fueling numerous security-focused applications,
• The security asset inventory, which combines inventory data from dozens of disparate systems in a unified view with special focus on accuracy given the critical use-cases it underpins.

Artificial intelligence is transforming how people work, especially when it comes to data. You will help define Bloomberg's strategy for leveraging AI with security data, identifying opportunities to improve workflows, lower barriers to entry, and optimize infrastructure.

This is a high-leverage role in a cross-functional environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable wearing many hats and balancing security expertise with business acumen.

We’ll trust you to:

• Develop the long-term vision and roadmaps for Bloomberg’s security data products
• Contribute to the long-term strategy for security visibility at Bloomberg and take a leadership role in delivering on that vision
• Interact with a diverse group of partners across the company to build a deep understanding of the landscape of data technologies and telemetry capabilities at Bloomberg
• Meet with end users, relying on your security knowledge to understand their workflows and technical requirements
• Prioritize, plan, make decisions, ask the right questions, and understand how to manage resources effectively

You’ll need to have:

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and/or managing security and/or data products and tooling
• Understanding of the day-to-day functions of security operations, threat and vulnerability management and product security teams, and the visibility challenges they face in large enterprise environments
• A strong technical background, including familiarity with data science/analytics and its application to security
• Effective communication and ability to work across departments; you will need to build trust with peers and at the executive level while skillfully navigating organizational dynamics
• A hands-on, teamwork-oriented approach, focused on building consensus and managing through influence

We’d love to see:

• Breadth of knowledge in big data, SIEM, federated search, and related areas
• Understanding of different flavors of security data (e.g. endpoint versus network, reference versus time-series) and the value they bring to the security program
• Strong analytical writing skills to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively; experience creating and presenting documentation and management reports
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and to divide focus among many different projects
• Prior experience as a technical product manager or engineering technical lead

Salary Range = 240,000-330,000 USD Annual+ Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
