Job summary

Kunai is seeking a Product/Program leader to own reporting for a team handling fee simplification, regulatory mandates, security, and infrastructure work. You’ll dig into data pipelines and report schemas, guiding delivery without over-reliance on engineers.

You’ll run PI planning, size epics, map sprints, and manage cross-team dependencies while negotiating blockers across multiple priorities. You’ll drive mandate-driven roadmaps in regulated environments, validate schema changes with

Qualifications

• Direct SAFe or scaled Agile experience running PI planning, epics, and cross-team dependency tracking.
• Strong Jira fluency, including epic structure and dependency tables across teams.
• Background in payments, card network processing, or financial settlement systems is a big plus.
• Experience running mandate-driven or compliance-driven roadmaps, in regulated environments like banking/fintech.
• Exposure to data or reporting pipelines, BI-adjacent team leadership, or schema change management.
• Experience managing multiple parallel teams and backlogs, not just multiple priorities within a single team.
• Comfort using Claude Code or similar AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the reporting roadmap, examining report schemas and data pipelines directly.
• Run PI planning with epics, story-point sizing, sprint mapping, and confidence votes.
• Manage cross-team dependencies, surface blockers, and negotiate tradeoffs.
• Drive delivery on regulatory and compliance mandates including fee labeling and IFPA reporting.
• Sanity-check technical conversations with engineers on schema changes and batch uploads.
• Prioritize a security backlog, distinguishing remediation from mitigation.
• Coordinate with platform teams on infrastructure dependencies like Java upgrades.
• Present status and tradeoffs to non-engineering stakeholders (legal, compliance, execs).
• Reimagine reporting processes and propose better, automated structures.

You’ll own reporting for a team managing fee simplification, regulatory mandates, security, and infrastructure work, digging into the data and reports yourself and reimagining how reporting gets done.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own the reporting roadmap, digging into report schemas and data pipelines yourself rather than relying only on engineers to translate
• Run PI planning with epics, story-point sizing, sprint mapping, and confidence votes across multiple concurrent priorities
• Manage cross-team dependencies, surfacing and negotiating blockers rather than just tracking your own team's board
• Drive delivery on regulatory and compliance mandates, including fee simplification, fee label mapping, and IFPA reporting requirements
• Sanity-check technical conversations with engineers on schema changes, regression testing, batch uploads, and reconciliation work
• Help prioritize a security backlog, understanding the difference between remediation and mitigation
• Coordinate with a platform team on infrastructure dependencies like Java version upgrades that affect your roadmap
• Present status and tradeoffs to non-engineering stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and executive audiences
• Reimagine existing reporting processes and propose better ways to structure, automate, or simplify them

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Direct SAFe or scaled Agile experience running PI planning, epics, and cross-team dependency tracking
• Strong Jira fluency, including epic structure and dependency tables across teams
• Background in payments, card network processing, or financial settlement systems, settlement, fee billing, or interchange experience is a big plus
• Experience running mandate-driven or compliance-driven roadmaps, in banking, fintech, healthcare, or similar regulated environments
• Exposure to data or reporting pipelines, BI-adjacent team leadership, or schema change management, even without writing SQL yourself
• Experience managing multiple parallel teams and backlogs at once, not just multiple priorities within a single team
• Comfort using Claude Code or similar AI coding tools
