Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Technical Product Manager within Cat Digital’s team in Chicago to drive the next generation of digital solutions for enterprise growth in sales and aftermarket services.

You will develop product requirements, technical solutions, and roadmaps with emphasis on reuse, customer value, and enterprise value. Lead multiple scrum teams and align with architecture and analytics stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to convey ideas, information, and needs clearly.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • Knowledge of software engineering methodologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize the value of the product and define work for multiple scrum teams.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, System Engineering, Data and Analytics Architects to own and elaborate Epics and Features for Development Teams.
  • Act as the Product Manager for larger, complex projects with high value to the organization.
  • Create, maintain and prioritize the Product Backlog according to business value.
  • Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the team.
  • Act as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have.

Job Summary As part of Cat Digital’s Technical Product Management team you will be a part of creating the next generation of digital solutions to enable enterprise growth in prime sales and aftermarket parts and services. Primary responsibilities include developing product requirements, technical solutions, and engineering roadmaps with an emphasis on maximizing solution re-use, customer value and enterprise value.

What You Will Do Maximize the value of the product and define work for multiple scrum teams. Collaborate with Product Owners, System Engineering, Data and Analytics Architects & Platform Architects to own and progressively elaborate functional and non-functional Epics and Features for the Development Teams to deliver. The Product Manager is empowered to make all decisions regarding the Technical Product Backlog.

  • Responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the Development Team
  • Responsible for acting as Product Manager for larger, more complex projects with high value to the organization
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and prioritizing the Product Backlog according to business value for the life of the project
  • Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the team
  • Act as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have
  • Responsible for product vision and conveying that vision to the team
  • Owns definition of acceptance criteria for product features
  • Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Responsible for making decisions on release dates and content
  • Represent the customer, interfacing and engaging with the customer
  • Communicates releases to stakeholder and customers
  • Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

What You Will Have

  • Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • Software Engineering: Knowledge of software engineering methodologies and best practices.

Consideration For Top Candidates

  • Lead programs from product strategy and building roadmaps.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Product Management in the software space.
  • Data analytics and commercializing APIs
  • Business level Product Management (Applications or data platform)
  • Cat domain knowledge

Summary Pay Range

$128,470.00 - $208,770.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
