Job summary

Mars, Incorporated and its Affiliates in Salt Lake City, UT seeks a Technical Operator to support the production team by maintaining mechanical reliability and performing preventive maintenance. You will troubleshoot and repair process and packaging equipment, document work in SAP, and partner with teams to drive continuous improvement.

The role requires reading pneumatic schematics, strong teamwork and communication, and flexibility to work 12-hour shifts with day/night rotation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree in a technical field preferred; 2+ years manufacturing experience or 5+ years progressive manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment across pneumatics, hydraulics, automation, machining, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and support setup/changeovers.
  • Train operators in Autonomous Maintenance and TPM activities including breakdown analysis.
  • Document work orders in SAP Plant Maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, peers, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Follow safety and GMP standards including LOTO and Confined Space.
  • Assess equipment reliability and perform routine adjustments and repairs.
  • Maintain records of quality checks, production numbers, and waste performance.

Job Description:

We're excited to introduce this new role and can't wait for your help in shaping it! This position will bring our production team closer to developing mechanical expertise, helping us better understand how production can support both preventative and basic maintenance effectively

About the Role

Technical Operators are equipment experts who support production by ensuring efficiency, product quality, and equipment reliability. In this role, you'll troubleshoot and repair process and packaging equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and partner with production teams to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What you want to know

- Schedule we operate 12 hour shifts that rotate both days and nights - we are currently looking for individuals to join both shifts

- Pay: Hourly pay at $29 per hour (plus differential for night shift)

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment in pneumatics, hydraulics, automation, machining, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and support equipment setups and changeovers.
  • Train operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and support TPM activities, including breakdown analysis.
  • Document work orders using SAP Plant Maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, peers, supervisors, and leadership.

What We're Looking For
  • Solid technical troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules based on production needs.
  • Physical ability to lift/push/pull (10-200 lbs.), work at heights, and stand for long shifts.
  • Willingness to learn and build technical skills.
Minimum Requirements
  • Required skills and knowledge necessary for all level of Operators within our Facility
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree in a technical field with 2+ years' experience in manufacturing, or 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience preferred
