Job summary

Wright Plastic Products in St. Clair, MI is seeking a Technical Molding Supervisor to lead the molding operation and drive continuous improvement. You will supervise the Technical Coordinators, coordinate mold changes, analyze scrap, and ensure adherence to policies.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of plastic injection molding experience and proven leadership abilities, with strong problem-solving and communication skills to guide a skilled technical team.

• Good working knowledge of automated equipment.
• Good working knowledge of material handling responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Define cause and implement corrective action to reduce scrap cost.
• Maintain cycle times at established standard times.
• Provide written corrective actions to 8D's assigned to the technical molding department.
• Establish and maintain department systems - BOM, parameter checks, setup sheets, technical notes, maintenance work orders.
• Technical staff performance evaluations, issues, and development.
• Schedule Technical staff in alignment with workload and coordinate PTO/absences.
• Participate in launches of new products and processes with quality leaders and champions.
• Ensure housekeeping, organization and safety standards are maintained.
• Develop continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency.
• Lead customer and 3rd party auditors reviewing our molding processes and procedures.
• Responsible for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Wright Plastic Products has an opportunity for a Technical Plastic Injection Molding Supervisor at our St. Clair, MI location. This is an excellent opportunity with room for advancement!

Summary of Position Responsibilities:

Directly supervise the Technical Coordinators on each shift to ensure effective day-to-day technical operations. Coordinate mold changes and planned downtime with appropriate personnel to minimize disruption. Responsible for the analysis, root cause identification, and corrective actions to reduce scrap. Coordinate Equipment and Tooling repairs with appropriate personnel. Drive continuous improvement throughout the molding department. Ensure that technical personnel adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define cause and implement corrective action to reduce scrap cost.
• Maintain cycle times at established standard times.
• Provide written corrective actions to 8D's assigned to the technical molding department.
• Establish and maintain department systems - Examples - BOM, parameter checks, set-up sheets, technical notes, maintenance work orders, etc.
• Technical staff performance evaluations, issues, and development. Responsible for individual staff performance levels and development.
• Schedule Technical staff in alignment with workload and coordinate coverage for PTO and/or unscheduled absences.
• Actively participates in the launch of new products and processes. Gain full knowledge of new launches, coordinating with assigned quality leaders and champions. Communicate with oncoming Technical Coordinators and quality leaders.
• Ensure that housekeeping, organization, and safety standards are always maintained.
• Develop continuous improvement opportunities, changes that could improve or increase process efficiency, labor usage.
• Lead customer and 3 rd party auditors when reviewing our molding process and procedures.
• Responsible for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Minimum Qualifications:

5 years of plastic injection molding experience

5 years' experience in process development and launch

High School diploma or equivalent

Good working knowledge of automated equipment

Good working knowledge of material handling responsibilities

Proven leadership ability - flexible/lead/do/motivate/own

Ability to problem solve - get to the root cause

High level of interpersonal skills with strong emphasis on communication across all levels
